Grand Rapids - A cocaine and marijuana bust in Grand Rapids is being hailed as the "largest single drug seizure" in city history. Grand Rapids police arrested two individuals, Juan Enrique Mejia and Jaime Chaidez Cambero. Police began an investigation in January of 2006 after a tip that a pair was selling cocaine in Grand Rapids. Police discovered a large quantity of illegal drugs after searching an apartment located at 2125 Woodburn Dr. SE on June 26th. Over 9 kilograms of cocaine and 120 pounds of marijuana were seized. The illegal drugs have a street value in excess of $1.4 million. Mejia and Cambero are being charged with "possession and intent to deliver cocaine" and a separate charge of "conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver over 1,000 grams." They also face charges of "possession and intent to deliver along with conspiracy with intent to deliver marijuana and maintaining a drug house." Mejia was on probation for Federal drug charges. Police say their investigation is ongoing and "additional suspects are being investigated." Both Mejia and Cambero are being held at the Kent Co. Jail on $5 million bonds.
