GRAND RAPIDS - Members of a union representing nearly 27,000 employees at Meijer's 92 Michigan stores have ratified a new contract with the retailer. Officials with the United Food and Commercial Workers say the deal protects their pension plan, shortens workplace grievance procedures and includes several wage increases. Union officials tell the "Grand Rapids Press" that nearly 9,300 employees voted in favor of the four and a half year contract, and almost 2,000 voted against it. The tentative agreement doesn't cover employees at Grand Rapids-based Meijer's stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky or Ohio
