Fruitport soldier dies in Iraq

FRUITPORT, Mich. - The U.S. Department of Defense reports a soldier from Fruitport has been killed while serving in Iraq. Twenty-six-year-old Army Corporal Jason Lee from the Muskegon County community was killed Sunday after an improvised explosive device detonated during a mounted patrol in Baqubah. Lee was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, of Fort Lewis, Washington.
