Grand Rapids - A federal judge has ordered Rami Saba to be freed on $500,000 unsecured bond, but with an electronic tether. Saba is accused of mail fraud, identity theft and financial institution fraud, and prosecutors believe he may also be connected with the disappearance of Don Dietz of Saranac, who has been missing since September. Prosecutors say Saba tried to transfer $443,000 from Dietz's bank account to his own accounts in Lebanon. In today's 2 hour court hearing, prosecutors argued that Saba is a suicide and flight risk. However, he will be released as soon as he is fitted with an electronic monitoring device and processed out of federal custody. Also in court today, Saba waived his preliminary exam.
