FRUITPORT TOWNSHIP - A lakeshore home daycare has been closed after a child was found dead last week. The preliminary exam of the child shows nothing wrong at the home at this time, but a final determination won't be made until after the final autopsy is completed and toxicology reports are made. The daycare license for Amy German at 2322 Stevens Creek Court in Fruitport is suspended and may be revoked by the Michigan Department of Human Services, Bureau of Children and Adult Licensing. The investigation found violations of the Child Care Organizations Act and administrative rules regarding supervision, caregiver responsibilities, infant sleeping, and training. BCAL says they took the action to protect the health, welfare, and safety of children. German has held a license to operate a group day care home since August 18, 2004. The license was for twelve children.
