GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Several months ago, a local gallery director guaranteed that there would be snow in Grand Rapids this winter.

Not because of the weather patters... but thanks to artist Tony Gant; who had a vision of a sculpture that the public could contribute to.  The end result being a huge man-made snowbank right in front of the Grand Rapids Art Museum.

Chris Protas, Fire Barn Gallery director said of the event, "You know, it's something great about Grand Rapids, they've kind of been conditioned to public art you know, through Art Prize, but I think there's a lot of evidence to that priort to that."

Sight artist, Tony Gant said, "When I envisioned this; and Chris said January, I said, 'Great!  Snow!  Michigan!' and here it is.  It has arrived, but it arrived a little later than I anticipated."

The sculpture is located between Rosa Parks Circle and the Grand Rapids Art Museum.

It will be on display through January 30th.

Art by Tony Gant and Lynette Lombard will be on display at the Fire Barn Gallery in Grand Haven through February 15th.
