Lowell, MI (WZZM) - Valentine's Day is a special occasion for many people, but especially for the Valentine family in Lowell.
And it's not just because their last name is Valentine.
"We've got a lot of things going on," laughs Alana (Valentine) Acheson. "Anniversaries and birthdays."
Not only is their name Valentine, Jim and Chery Valentine were married on Valentine's Day 37 years ago.
"People think I was the romantic but I was just not going to forget my anniversary," says Jim.
"The wedding colors were red and pink," remembers Chery. "It was fun to decorate with all the cupids and hearts."
Their name is Valentine, they were married on Valentine's Day, and then it gets really crazy.
Two of Jim and Chery's grandchildren were born on Valentine's Day.
"We had one granddaughter on Valentine's Day and then, 4 years later, another one came along on Valentine's day," says Chery.
"I think the kids had no idea what to get us for our anniversary so they decided grandchildren," jokes Jim..
The family says the baby's were born naturally, not induced or through c-section.
"My water broke at 5:30 A.M. and Sadie was born at 1:30 P.M.," recalls Alana.
The Valentines nearly had a third grandchild born on Valentine's Day. Ron and Alana's oldest daughter was due in mid February, but wasn't born until February 20, 6 days after Valentine's Day..
"Having got married on Valentines Day and then the grand kids coming, it's just a fun day all the way around," says Chery.
