GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A healing center for grieving children is making its way to west Michigan.
Ele's Place has been around for more than 20 years in Lansing and Ann Arbor; helping about 400 kids a year.
Ele's Place hopes to offer peer support programs to 60 children a night.
The managing director for the new Grand Rapids location lost her teenage son three years ago and says there has been a need to bring a facility here.
Gerilyn May explains, "It's really my passion to try to help others. Other kids, other families who need to know where they can go to find help, because if Ele's Place was available three years ago, I know many of the families we know and love would've been there with their teenagers to seek help through Ele's Place."
Ele's Place will be located inside the Third Reformed Church in Grand Rapids.
They hope to begin grief support programs this spring.
