GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Tuesday was another frigid, windy, West Michigan day. But it's also another day closer to spring, which starts Wednesday. WZZM 13 spoke with residents, many of whom are ready for the changing of the season.
"This is winter breaking up, trying its last gasp to hang on and it's gonna give up," said a man leaving Target on 28th Street.
Another shopper returned to the cold Monday night after vacationing in Florida. "This is real suffering" she said as the wind whipped the parking lot.
Inside Target, colorful swim wear has been on sale for over a month. Theresa Hunting was picking up several pieces for her daughter. "One week and counting," she said, referring to her spring break trip to Mexico.
Travel to Mexico and other warm climes will be plentiful this spring. At Dolphin Travel on 28th Street, consultant Nancee Coggins said business has been brisk, especially to the all-inclusive resorts.
"You keep hearing about the economy - how people don't have money to spend on vacations - we sell every day all the time they still want their vacations."
WZZM 13 meteorologist Aaron Offseyer fielded many complaints on Facebook about his wintry forecast. "This particular cold snap has put people in a bit of a foul mood" he said.
