In 2006, doctors discovered Jed had a brain tumor. After surgery, chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, Jed returned to run the bases, with the help of a walker.

(WZZM) - The Radio Television Digital News Association has awarded Tom Clyde a regional Edward R. Murrow award for "excellence in electronic journalism."

The award for Sports Reporting honors a story that Clyde photographed, wrote and edited.  "For the Love of the Game" is the story of a young tee ball player in Zeeland and his father, and the success they have found both on and off the ball field.

The competition for the award pitted the story against entries from the biggest television markets in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

The story will now be a finalist for a national Murrow award.
