"A dog is man's best friend," that was the case for a young boy named Victor. The day his dog, Sparky, ran into traffic and died, was the day that changed Victor's life. Feeling sad and depressed, Victor came up with the idea to bring his best friend back to life by an experiment he learned in science. Victor succeeded in resurrecting his dog, however he didn't succeed in keeping it a secret. When Victor's friends and family discovered that Sparky was alive, chaos began as many other kids tried the same experiment on many deceased animals. Frankenweenie is based on Tim Burton's original 30 minute short film from 1984, however I read the film was never released because it was too scary for kids.

This is a dark creepy movie, though at times very heartwarming. When Victor's dog dies, his mom tells him, "When you lose someone you love, you never really lose them. They just move into a very special place in you heart." A great parent/child discussion.
The idea of bringing a pet back to life is a confusing concept for kids.
This is a dark, disturbing film for kids to see; it's also in black and white, which makes it even more disturbing.
Sexual Content: None
Violent Content: Excessive
• It's disturbing when Victor resurrects Sparky. The dog is shocked, it reminded me of charging a car battery, though it was a cute dog with bolts screwed in his head.
• Other kids find or dig up animals and bring them back to life. These animals become scary, destructive creatures.
• A turtle becomes a monster and crushes cars and smashes buildings.
• A rat becomes a large beast that claws people.
• A cat, holding a dead bat in his mouth, is transformed into a creepy flying creature that hisses at people.

Crude or Profane Language: None
Drugs and Alcohol Content: Mild
• We see animals drinking from a keg of beer.

Will Kids Like It? No
• This is a dark, creepy film; one that I don't think kids will enjoy.

It's Halloween season and your kids may want to see a scary, gory film; however with the subject matter of resurrecting your deceased, beloved pet, might not be the movie for your child. I recommend Hotel Transylvania; especially for younger kids that want to see a good Halloween film.

Will Kids Like It? Yes

Beca(Anna Kendrick) is a freshman at Barden University; she doesn't love college, she doesn't try to fit in, but what she does want to do...is move to Los Angeles!!! However, things change when she's persuaded to join The Bellas, an all-girls a cappella group. Now Beca takes this traditional, somewhat boring singing group, and adds a contemporary flare, which sets them apart from their rivals. Pitch Perfect is a comedy musical; it's a fun entertaining movie!!!

The a cappella group is filled with a bunch of misfit girls. It was nice to see the girls accept one another and learn how to work together. Great parent/child conversation.
The movie is predictable and sappy, though cute and entertaining.
The music and talent of the young men and women in the film was amazing. They had wonderful voices!!!
Sexual Content: Moderate
• There are some suggestive dance moves as one girl touches her privates while dancing.
• In a singing contest, one group is asked to sing songs about sex.
• Initially Beca was asked to join the group while she was in the shower, the other girl was in the shower too. We only saw their shoulders and backs.
• Three girls were kicked out of the group for sleeping with their rival boys group.
• There were sexual references made throughout the film.

Violent Content: Mild
• After a competition, The Bella's got into a fight with another singing group. One character is hit in the face and crotch.

Crude or Profane Language: Moderate
• The s-word is said about 6 times, we also hear other words such as; "a-," "b-ch," "d-n" and "h-l," are said.

Drugs and Alcohol Content: Mild
• We see college students drinking at a party, it's obvious that some are drunk.

Will Kids Like It? Yes
• Fans of Glee and other movies of this genre, will enjoy this film.
Overall this is an entertaining film. Parents need to be aware of the moderate sexual content. Depending on the kid, I recommend this film for girls ages 12 and up.
