GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Turkey is on the Thanksgiving Day menu now for hundreds of local families in need.

Turkey, side dishes and other ingredients for Thanksgiving dinner were handed out Friday by the food pantry at New Faith Temple Church on Kalamazoo Ave. SE.

The pantry has a food distribution every month, but in November organizers also offer turkeys donated by members of Endless Opportunities and Grand Rapids C.I.T.Y.

"There is no greater feelng than seeing all these people come through able to walk away and know someone out there is looking out for them," says Chris Sain of Grand C.I.T.Y.

"I think its very nice to help people who are in need of some food on the holiday," says Renee Combs, who received one of the turkeys. "It's a blessing."

"We don't want to just give turkeys," says Mother Mary Grady, director of the church's food pantry. "We want to give a full course meal, so we have rolls, bread, the whole thing."

Endless Opportunities and Grand Rapids C.I.T.Y. started distributing Thanksgiving dinners five years ago when participants handed out 25 turkeys. This year, the number has grown to more than 200.
