GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)-A MTV star visited Grand Rapids Saturday for World AIDS Day.

The Grand Rapids Red Project teamed up with MTV Canada Star Jake Mossop to address the issue of HIV. 13 health reporter Val Lego emceed the event at Wealthy Street Theatre. Mossop, who is a former nurse, stars on the talk show '1 Girl 5 Gays', which also airs on Logo TV.

"My big message tonight is educating youth that HIV is still an issue and that they need to keep themselves safe," said Mossop. "You can still promote health and be safe while having fun and while being young."

The Kent County Health Department offered free AIDS testing during Saturday's presentation. The agency offers free walk-in testing Monday, Dec. 3, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at its Fuller Avenue facility.  Other testing is available by making an appointment by calling 616-632-7171.
