More dads are getting involved in shopping for their children's Christmas gifts.
WALKER, Mich. (WZZM) - They're surviving the traffic and braving the crowds, but why don't last-minute shoppers just shop sooner?
"The biggest reason a guy has to last-minute shop is because if you shop too early, your wife will nose around, and she'll look for the stuff," explained Brent Sundberg.
"I was trying to wait until the very last minute," said John Cummings. "I figured I'd find a good deal online, but it never happened. So, I just figured I've gotta get this before Christmas."
They say it's all about bringing lots of patience and keeping a good attitude, but now there's a new way to look at it with a little optimism; more last-minute shopping means more calories burned.
A new study by the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids shows the average person is burning 840 calories in a three hour holiday shopping stint. That number is up 12% from last year, all because people are having to park farther away, rush to several different stores when an item may be out of stock, wait in lines longer, and carry more.
With only a little more time for procrastination, remind yourself how good you'll look when those gifts are finally under the tree.
