GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) - Another Groundhog Day tradition started in Grand Rapids Saturday. This was the first year for the "Groundhog Day Marathon", which took runners through the snowy Kent Trails.
More than 500 runners from 20 different states competed in the marathon.
The race was created to make athletes feel like they were in the movie Bill Murray movie "Groundhog Day", as they repeated the same 4.4 mile course.
The winners of the full marathon and half marathon each took home a hand-carved woodchuck trophy.
