Go Red for Women fashion show on WZZM 13 Healthy You.
(WZZM) - Throughout February, the American Heart Association is celebrating the Go Red for Women movement.
As part of the effort to fight heart disease in women, hundreds took part in the 2013 Go Red for Women luncheon at Noto's Old World Italian Dining. There, they learned about the latest information on heart health while raising money for heart disease research and prevention.
"Heart disease is a strong killer for women and it's not known by many people. The stats show one in two deaths of women are heart disease, that has moved to one in three, so we're making progress, but we need more focus to make sure we live healthy lifestyles and we really have a good concept of wellness," said Mary Tuuk, president of Fifth Third Bank Western Michigan.
The Go Red for Women movement is now in its tenth year.
