GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The fish are jumping in the Grand River as the spring spawning season begins for steelhead trout.

Steelhead is the name given to the rainbow trout that are native to the Great Lakes. Now, they are returning to the river or stream where they were born to spawn a new generation.

You can see them jumping at the Fish Ladder in downtown Grand Rapids. Fishermen are also in the river looking to catch the trout.
