Teachers testifying before the Grand Rapids Public School board about pay, contracts.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- After more than 200 days without a contract, Grand Rapids Public Schools and teachers have struck a tentative deal.
Paul Helder, president of the GRPS Teachers' Union told WZZM 13 he couldn't go into specifics of the proposed contract, because many teachers haven't yet seen it. But Helder says the deal would last through the 2014-2015 school year.
Helder says the union requires he post the agreement for five days and hold a general membership meeting where teachers can ask questions and engage in dialogue.
The GRPS teachers union has been negotiating with the district since July.
