Salon owner, kids cancer fighter, dies

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - A well-known community member dedicated to raising money for pediactric cancer has passed away.

Philip Capobianco was 56 years old. On his Facebook page, it says Capobianco died unexpectedly in Canada on Saturday.

Capobianco was a well-known hair stylist professionally. He owned the Philip Anthony Salon, but he was better known for his personal work in helping raise funds for cancer.

His daughter, Milan Capobianco was diagnosed with an inoperable malignant brain tumor, just four days before her seventh birthday. She died in 2009. Capobianco organized an annual walk in Grand Rapids in honor of his daughter.
