WMEAC provides rain barrel workshops.

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- West Michigan has received a lot of rain over the last few days but just a few short months ago, there were some major drought concerns.

Within the city, green spaces are hard to come by.  So, the West Michigan Environmental Action Council (WMEAC) is helping home and business owners do all they can to promote healthy practices and lawns.

Elaine Sterrett Isely, Water and Low Impact Development Programs Director with WMEAC leads rain barrel workshops.

She explains, "The advantages of the rain barrel are, just for an individual home owner, they, it saves water.  You don't have to pay for this water.  It comes from the sky."
