Police look for stolen church tabernacle

A tabernacle similar to this one was stolen from St. Charles Church in Leaton, MI near Mt. Pleasant

Mt. Pleasant, Mich. (WZZM)Michigan State Police in Mt. Pleasant are looking for a tabernacle stolen from a Catholic Church.

Officials from St. Charles, located in Leaton, MI, say it was stolen between Wednesday and Friday of last week. The tabernacle contains communion wafers considered to be the Body of Christ. The tabernacle is heavy and church leaders believe it would take at least two people to move it out.

Investigators say there was no forced entry into the church. Authorities are asking the public to keep an eye out for the stolen tabernacle. Anyone with information can call the MSP post in Mt. Pleasant at 989-773-5951.
