CROCKERY TOWNSHIP (WZZM) -- This community in Ottawa County is one of the fastest growing in West Michigan. A new census report says Crockery Township added 95 people between 2010 and 2012, for a total of 4,130 residents.
Why? Location. The township is close to I-96 and M-104, with easy access to Muskegon, Grand Haven and Grand Rapids.
Sherri Vis loves the convenient location. She lives in one of the housing developments, Hathaway Lakes, where most of the residential growth has occured.
"It's just an easy commute-- it's easy to get places," Vis said Thursday. Her development also has a sense of its own place, she says.
"We love living here, there's a sense of community. Last weekend we had garage sales," said Vis.
Township supervisor Leon Stille says Crockery enjoys, "a good quality of life, good school system, nice amenities around."
Ottawa County overall had a 1.1% population growth increase, the largest of any county in Michigan.
