Wyoming Police arrest suspect in tobacco store robbery

UPDATE AT 8:44 P.M. (WZZM) -- Wyoming Police say they have identified the suspect involved in Friday morning's armed robbery at the Admiral Tobacco Store in the 1700 block of 28th Street SW.

Investigators say they analyzed evidence from the crime scene and were able to identify the suspect within three hours of the crime.  Officers obtained a search warrant for the suspect's home and recovered evidence from the crime.

The suspect, a 25-year-old Grand Rapids man, was arrested.  He is now in the Kent County Hail awaiting formal charges.  the suspect is also on parole for armed robbery.

WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) - Police are looking for the individual who held up an Admiral Tobacco store on 28th Street Friday morning.

The robbery happened at about 10:00am at the store in the 1700 block of 28th Street SW.  The suspect, who police describe  as a black male of an undetermined age, with a red bandanna over his face, was armed with a handgun.  The suspect fled with an unknown amount of cash and cigarettes.  Attempts to track the suspect with a K9 unit were unsuccessful.

A witness told police of a suspicious vehicle near the store at the time of the robbery.  The car is described as a red, older model Oldsmobile, possibly a model 88.
