GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A factory with a century of history is now the city's newest destination for downtown living.
The former Baker Furniture building is now Baker Lofts, a facility that includes 87 residential units. One and two-bedroom apartments are available for qualifying low-income residents.
An $18 million restoration project transformed the building from a manufacturing plant to a mixed-use building. There is space on the bottom floor of the facility for retailers.
Developers say the Baker Lofts will be the start of a new era for one of the oldest buildings in Grand Rapids.
