UPDATE AT 6:25 A.M. (WZZM) -- Police say a missing Grand Rapids teenager with autism has been found safe.

Officers say Bret Williams, 16, was found early Wednesday morning at the Walmart store on Alpine Ave. NW in Comstock Park.

Investigators were working to reunite the boy with his family.

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Police are searching for a missing autistic teenager. Bret Williams, 16, ran away from home around 6 p.m. Tuesday following a disagreement with his parents.

Authorities say the teen functions at a second grade level.  Officers say he has a history of self-destructive behavior, and has run away in the past.

Bret is 6 feet tall and 140 pounds. He has brown spiked hair and wears dark framed glasses. He was wearing a dark puffy vest over a black long sleeved shirt and jeans.

Police say he often walks on Grand Rapids' West Side and in Walker.
