(GRAND RAPIDS) -- The city wants to increase tourism by teaching people how to be better ambassadors. Thursday, Experience Grand Rapids announced the launch of the Grand Rapids Certified Tourism Ambassador program.
It's a national program that trains hospitality employees and volunteers to turn every visit to Grand Rapids into a positive experience.
"It's a program that combines history of the destination, knowledge of the destination, and customer service so we can take every visitor experience to the next level," said Janet Korn with Experience Grand Rapids.
The program includes a one-time application fee of $35 per person, along with an annual renewal fee of $10.
