GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Police are investigating a shots-fired incident in a neighborhood that has seen other recent shootings.

Police received calls from neighbors in the 1100 block of Logan Street SE around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, reporting they heard several shots fired and a car squealing its tires as it left the scene.

According to officers, a gunman in a black SUV fired four shots at a man walking eastbound on Logan.  The intended victim ran away, and the SUV drove away toward Eastern Avenue.

On Sunday afternoon, a man was shot while riding his bicycle at Logan and Fuller Avenue SE.  On July 28, Jalen Thomas, 17, was shot in the back at Eastern and Franklin Street.  On June 19, Willie Ware, 60, was shot in the leg while protecting his grandson from a shooting near his home on Thomas Street.

Police commanders say the neighborhood is an active area for crime.
