Mary Herman, RN, Breast Health Navigator at the Mercy Health Comprehensive Breast Center in Grand Rapids,  helps patients through the process if they require follow up after a screening mammogram.

She talks about the difference between a screening mammogram and a diagnostic mammogram.

Sometimes, a screening mammogram reveals a change in a women's breast, requiring additional imagery. This raises anxiety women who may assume a callback means cancer. However, there are many other reasons a women's breast may change, most of them benign.
