Driver, 73, seriously hurt in Ionia County crash

SARANAC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- A 73-year-old Clarksville woman was seriously hurt after pulling in front of a pick-up truck.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on Grand River Avenue near Morrison Lake Road.

Michigan State Police say the elderly driver of a Buick Century stopped, they proceeded through the intersection and into the path of an oncoming GMC truck.

The 73-year-old Clarksville woman was transported by medical helicopter to Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids. The driver of the pick-up truck was not hurt.

A dog in the Buick was not injured; it taken to the Ionia County Animal Shelter.
