GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WZZM) -- The city of Grand Rapids isn't the only city focusing on art this month; ArtWalk started Wednesday in Grand Haven. The event is at a variety of locations around the community and runs until October 5.
Organizers of ArtWalk are not shy about the fact they want ArtPrize visitors to make the trip to their city too. But they say their art event is creating success on its own, especially with young artists.
"With 500,000 people coming to Grand Rapids, we want to invite some of them here. It is our fourth year and we have had great fun. If there is a measure of success, our youth art has exploded, it has just been terrific," said Steve Loftis.
This Saturday at 10 a.m. a parade of artistically modified bikes will travel thru town. Venues participating in ArtWalk will all have window decals and bright traffic cones at their entrances.
