Animal causes power outage in Grand Rapids

UPDATE 12:35 p.m.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Power is back on after an animal caused a mid day power outage.

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- More than 2,000 Consumers Energy customers in Grand Rapids lost power shortly before 11 am.

Consumers Energy says and animal somehow got into the Wealthy Street substation. That caused three separate power outages just to the west and south of downtown Grand Rapids.

Consumers workers are repairing the outage and hope to have power restored by 12:30 pm.

Businesses effected by the power outage include the downtown YMCA and Big Boy restaurant.
