CROCKERT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- A Grand Rapids man was seriously hurt Monday afternoon following a chain-reaction crash on I-96.
The accident happened around 4:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 5.
Ottawa County Sheriff's deputies say traffic had backed up due to construction and was at a standstill. But Brian Lewis, 36, of Zeeland hadn't noticed the back-up and rear ended a vehicle. That vehicle then slammed into a vehicle driven by Terry Mundwiler, 52, Grand Rapids.
Mindwiler was transported to North Ottawa Community Hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition Monday evening. The two other drivers were not hurt.
Lewis, the at-fault driver was ticketed.
