DETROIT (Detroit Free Press) - Michigan's population increased for the second year in a row, rising 0.1% - or about 13,000 residents - between July 1, 2012 and 2013.
The U.S. population increased 0.7% during the same time period. Last year, despite a marginal increase, Michigan's population size fell from the 8th largest state to 9th place nationwide.
Michigan remains the 9th largest state this year, with an estimated 9,895,622 residents. North Carolina is close behind at 9,848,060 people.
