UPDATE - Monday evening

AMBER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- A dive team Monday recovered the body of a missing man whose snowmobile plunged into a Mason County river.

The Ludington Daily News reports Bill Green was snowmobiling Sunday night he drove off the Chinnery Rollway and into the Pere Marquette River.

Monday afternoon a remote operating vehicle (ROV) located Green's body under the ice. Crews used the ROV's lights to illuminate the area while fighters and divers broke the ice to retrieve the body.

AMBER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- The search is resuming for a snowmobiler who went over a nearly 100-foot embankment, crashing into the icy Pere Marquette River.

Our partner, the Ludington Daily News is reporting search crews from at least three fire departments are joining the recovery effort for Bill Green, 35, of Ludington.

The Mason County Sheriff tells the Ludington Daily News that Green was riding alongside another snowmobiler when he went over the embankment around 7:20 p.m. Sunday. His snowmobile was recovered from a hole in the ice about 90 minutes later. The sheriff decided against putting divers in the water that night because of the dangerous ice conditions.
