UPDATE: Power restored to Whitehall customers

UPDATE AT 6:15 A.M. (WZZM) -- Consumers Energy restored power to the affected Whitehall-area residents at 6 a.m. Friday.

UPDATE AT 2:45 A.M. (WZZM) -- The Consumers Energy website shows the outage affects 646 customers.  The utility estimates power will be restored to homes and businesses around 4:30 a.m. Friday

WHITEHALL, Mich. (WZZM) -- Portions of Whitehall and Whitehall Township are without power this morning due to a snapped power pole.

Viewers began contacting WZZM 13 to report the outage around 10:20 p.m. Thursday, saying a power pole had snapped and caught fire near East Colby Street and Peterson Road.

The Consumers Energy online outage center shows 845 customers are without power due to the outage.
