GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- All Grand Rapids residential streets should have been plowed at least once by 6:00 PM Tuesday.
That's the word from City Manager Greg Sundstrom, who said 75% of the streets had seen one plow by 6:00 AM. Sundstrom says city staff will then respond to any complaints about areas that have been missed.
"I think considering the significant staffing reductions that were put into place three years ago, we are responding remarkably well," Sundstrom told WZZM 13 Tuesday.
A 20-minute drive around the northeast section of the city failed to find any streets that had not been plowed at least once. Residents could aid the plowing process by moving their cars off the street and adhering to odd/even parking restrictions.
A couple of water main breaks, on Derbyshire and Plymouth, kept city utility crews busy Tuesday.
