LOWELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- MDOT managers today will outline their plans to replace a Lowell area bridge by sliding the new one in place of the old one.
The state plans to tear down the Alden Nash Ave. SE (M-50) overpass at I-96. Managers plan to build the new, wider overpass right next to the old one.
When the new overpass is done, workers will slide it into place on skids lubricated with dishwashing liquid. The process would reduce the amount of time the bridge would be out of service during construction.

The meeting on the project is at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Lowell Township Hall, 2910 Alden Nash Ave. SE.
