GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The public entrance to the Kent County jail will reopen Thursday once crews repair a broken water line.
The underground pipe burst around 7 a.m. Tuesday due to the extreme cold, sheriff's deputies said.
The repair work forced jail officials to cancel all personal visits with inmates, however online visits would still take place.
Anyone posting bond for an inmate can use the after-hours entrance and jail officials also said attorneys visiting clients would be accommodated.
Crews had hoped to have the break repaired later Tuesday, but repairs were taking longer than anticipated.
