MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) -- One place not complaining a bit about the cold and snow is the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex, which is enjoying one of its most active seasons since it opened 29 years ago.
Officials say they've sold a record number of season passes and the luge reservations this winter have been very strong. The Winter Sports Complex got one of its earliest starts ever, thanks to the cold weather and excessive snowfall West Michigan received prior to Thanksgiving.
The Winter Sports Complex offers four sports for the winter enthusiasts: ice skating, show shoeing, cross-country skiing and luging. It also hosts events.
"We're celebrating Michigan's 177th birthday party on January 25," said Jim Rudicil, the executive director of the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex. "It's an event we call, 'Party in your Parka.' It's an all-day celebration here at the complex, celebrating all things Michigan. There will be live music, an arts and crafts fair, some of the best Michigan beers and a great lineup of musicians that day."
