Fire destroys Olive Twp. house, Red Cross assisting family

OLIVE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- An Ottawa County house is a total loss after fire caused the roof to collapse Friday afternoon.

The fire began around 2:15 p.m. in the 10,000 block of Fawnfield Ct., near the intersection of Tyler Street & 104th Avenue.

Firefighters from multiple departments responded to the blaze and reported flames shooting from the roof. It took crews about 30 minutes to gain control of the fire. Firefighters had to use 500 feet of line to access a hydrant on 104th Avenue.

Two adults and three children under the age of 10 escaped the burning home unharmed. The Red Cross is assisting the family.
