GRAND RAPIDS, (WZZM) - The East Hills Council of Neighbors wants to bring back outdoor ice-skating rinks to their community.
Construction of an ice rink in Cherry Park began Saturday morning.
It's being built on top of the neighborhood's wading pool, which organizers say is great because it is already fenced in. The rink will be monitored by volunteers, and donated skating equipment will be provided for children.
Organizers believe ice rinks will help to promote year-round activity in their community. The ice rink will officially open January 18th.
