WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) -- State and local leaders came together Monday morning in Wyoming to discuss issues facing people in West Michigan.

20th District Senator Tonya Schuitmaker came with some good news about Michigan's economy.

Schuitmaker says this year Michigan will see a surplus budget.  She says they achieved the surplus by strategically budgeting over the last three years, and making changes to Michigan's tax code.

Schuitmaker says the next challenge will be to decide what to do with the extra money in the budget.
