Teresa Weatherall Neal, superintendent of Grand Rapids Public Schools
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The superintendent of Grand Rapids Public Schools is asking parents for their report card on the district's transformation plan.
Declining enrollment forced the district to come up with a transformation plan implemented last year.
The first phase led to the closure of ten schools, the reopening of one and consolidation and changes to others.
Now the district is beginning the second phase of the plan, which includes exploring an alternative education charter school and improvements to existing campuses.
Superintendent Teresa Weatherall Neal is holding the first in a series of "listening tour" stops around the city, to let parents weigh in the plans. The first event is at 6 p.m. Jan. 14, at the Gerald R. Ford Academic Center, 851 Madison Ave SE.
