Firefighters rescue girl from ice on Mona Lake

NORTON SHORES, Mich. (WZZM) -- Norton Shores firefighters rescued a 15-year-old girl who jumped from a bridge onto Mona Lake.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. 

Police say the girl jumped from the Henry Street bridge onto the lake ice, injuring herself.

It took firefighters about 15 minutes to get to the girl and get her off the ice.  They say the girl was about 150 feet from shore.

The teenager was taken to Mercy Health Muskegon's Hackley Campus.  Officers say they do not know her current condition.

Investigators say they do not know why the girl jumped from the bridge onto the ice.
