Deputies: Ionia Co. teen hit by wrong-way driver

IONIA, Mich. (WZZM) -- A Montcalm County man is in jail after deputies say he was driving on the wrong-side of the highway and hit another car.

It happened around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday at M-66 and Tuttle Road, just south of Ionia.

Investigators say a deputies saw the 38-year-old driver going south in the northbound lanes of M-66.  The car ran the red light, and hit a white Chevy Malibu.  The Malibu went airborne and spun around, hitting a third car.

The driver of the Malibu, a 17-year-old girl from Saranac, was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies did not say if anyone else was injured.

Investigators say the at-fault driver is facing charges of driving under the influence of drugs, and driving with a suspended license
