LAFAYETTE, IN. (The Indianapolis Star) - The Indiana State Police Lafayette post is responding to a major accident involving at least one semi that caught fire near mile marker 174 on I-65.
Early reports suggest at least one person was injured and taken to an area hospital. Between 20 and 30 vehicles are involved in the crash, according to initial reports.
The north and south lanes of I-65 between Ind. 25 and Ind. 26 are closed while crews work and respond to numerous accidents. The road will remain closed for several hours and detours will be in place, according to the Indiana State Police, Lafayette post.
I-65 southbound at exit 175 also is closed, according to ISP. Police ask drivers to seek alternative routes.
