MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) -- The Huntin' Time Expo starts Friday at the Deltaplex; it includes 350 booths and everything you need for a successful hunt.

One of the vendors at the show is PROfab, based in Muskegon. The company president says 90 percent of the company's content is Made in Michigan.

PROfab has a wildlife feeder that's smaller and lighter than the ones many hunters currently use to attract deer. Mark Hoofman and his sons Joe and Ben say their Outpost Feeder is perfect for hunters who go deep into the woods.

"If you are going back into the hill country like we do in northern Michigan, it is easy to get out there without busting your back," said Mark Hoofman.

And they're finding success selling the product at hunting shows. "It actually takes some explaining for people to truly understand," said Ben Hoofman. "To go there and demonstrate and show how they work, that seems to be the best way to sell theses right now."

The feeder works on a timer, four times a day for up to 20 seconds. And when you're away, the 20 pounds of corn the feeder holds falls to the ground. "It activates the spin plat and throws the corn out onto the ground and dispenses it onto a wide area," explained Joe Hoofman.

A few customers have even found other uses for the outpost feeder. "We have had guys who feed their fish over a pond, to guys who feed their dogs in the morning so they do not have to get up," said Mark Hoofman.

The Outpost Feeder is based on one Hoofman first built for himself. "We figured if we liked it, then other guys that did the same thing would as well."

And now his aim is to make the product a must have item for all hunters. The Outpost Feeder cost $79 online and a little less in person at the Huntin' Time show.
