Dawn Freeland and friends target shoot on her property in Belding
BELDING, Mich. (WZZM) -- If you are looking for something for your family to do this weekend (and can make it safely out of your driveway) stop by the Grand Rapids Huntin' Time Expo.
Through Sunday, you can check out a variety of new products and apparel. A growing portion of the hunting population is women. Dawn Freeland's is one woman working in the business; she founded "Women Hunt Too," a clothing retail line.
We stopped by the avid hunter's home in Belding. She and a group of friends say one reason they hunt is to provide locally-sourced food for their families. And, they love being outdoors.
"We're starting to see a surge in the hunting area because women are starting to enjoy the power, the freedom gives them independence," said Freeland.
