Winter weather creates challenging weekend commute

ALLEGAN, Mich. (WZZM) -- Two West Michigan counties are telling drivers to stay off the roads due to drifting snow, unplowed roads and accidents.

Cass County declared a snow emergency Monday morning.  The sheriff's department is warning drivers they may be ticketed if they are caught on the roads, unless it's an emergency.

Allegan County is telling drivers to stay off the roads unless it is an emergency.

Capt. Frank Baker with the Allegan County Sheriff's Department tweeted that many roads were closed due to drifting snow.  There have also been numerous reports of rollovers and slideoffs due to slippery road conditions.
