West Ottawa student arrested for bomb threat

HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- A 16-year-old West Ottawa High School student has been arrested for allegedly calling in a bomb threat from school.

Ottawa County Sheriff's investigators say the student made the threat shortly after arriving at school around 7:40 a.m. Thursday.

He faces a felony charge and is lodged at the Ottawa County Juvenile Detention Center.

Authorities say he may be involved in other telecommunication threats in other areas.

HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- Ottawa County Sheriff's deputies and investigators have cleared West Ottawa High School after an earlier threat was made.

Very few details were made available, but the school sent a message out to parents this morning.  The message reads:

"West Ottawa High School is undergoing a precautionary alert during 1st and 2nd hour Thursday, January 30. You may receive calls or texts from your students during this exercise. A threat to a building was received via text/phone early this morning. We have protocols and procedures in place to deal with this. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department is in charge of the investigation. We will give you more information as soon as it becomes available. "

At about 11:30 a.m., West Ottawa High School (@WestOttawaHS) tweeted to students:

All clear students. Head back to your first hour now and wait for an announcement. We will be going to 4th hour or A lunch. #GoWO
